A
Japnese animation POKEMON is to be aird in many areas
of the world. It has been loved not only by children
but also by adult people in Japan since the televising
was started last April. Based on a Nintendo game, the
anime for children tells us what is valuable through
the friendship between a boy and Pokemon Pikachu.
Pikachu, a electric-mouse typed, is the No. 1 popular
monster in Japan. However, it is not only because he
is cute, but also because his character is reliable.
He is a bit selfish, short-tempered, and cowardly, yet
gentle and has great guts. He and other monsters are
in a body to face their opponents and the villain, Rocket
team. They would never give up no matter how bleak their
prospects are, because they believe they can conquer
those conditions. Their pure and sincere attitudes tell
their young trainer courage, and he responds to their
reliances; they trust each other, and feel for each
other.
The
first episode was impressive, though hard to see. Pikachu
looks down on Satoshi, a beginning trainer, reluctant
to be with him. Rejected by his first friend, Satoshi
tries to capture a monster by himself as he finds Pidgey,
a bird-type monster. He, however, fails, and by accident
provokes Spearow who has been near him. Spearow is also
bird-typed, but aggressive. He aims at him with his
sharp-pointed beak; Wild monsters dislike ones tamed
by people, and often give battles to them. Spearow targets
Pikachu. Pikachu shoots an electric beam. Spearow
gets a shock, flies away, then calls--to summon others
of his species. His flock. A boy and Pokemon run away,
side by side, sensing offensive sprits of Spearows behind
themselves.
